As a Case Manager for DRCOG Area Agency on Aging, I am finding more frail senior adults facing homelessness; however, there are very little services available to meet the medical, mobility, and social/emotional needs. We receive @ 100 calls per week related to seniors losing housing due to Landlords selling homes. What is each agency doing to focus on the needs of our frail seniors facing homelessness?

What type of citizenship or immigration status does the HCV lottery require? And does the requirement apply for all adult members of the household, or just the head of household?

I would like to second Desiree's concern in regards to older adults facing unique challenges with accessing shelters and resources. In my role, at Area Agency on Aging I work on our Information and Assistance phone line. We are receiving multiple calls daily regarding individuals facing homelessness for the first time in their 70s, 80s, etc. Many of them are not in a physical condition to wait in line for a shelter. It would be wonderful to learn more about how we can service these callers with immediate assistance. Are there any motel voucher programs specifically for adults over 55?

01:00:11
Is there anything in the works to streamline the housing application process where clients only have to fill out one application for the Denver Metro Area?

01:03:05
Regarding citizenship or immigration status - for the HCV lottery, one person on the application needs to have legal citizenship however, not everyone in the household needs legal citzenship. It does not necessarily need to be the head of household.

This may be a question for Annie, but were any efforts made by the city to acquire the Loretta Heights campus at Dartmouth and South Federal. That seems like an area that could have been developed into a great area for housing and other types of support for people experiencing homelessness, joblessness educational needs etc.

Regarding the immigration question an adult needs to have legal citizenship correct? It can’t be a child’s information?

01:09:02
Yes - just one person needs to have legal status

01:12:39
Does anyone know if it affects the public charge if they are in process and are getting ready to start citizenship process?- for housing voucher/immigration question

Loretto Heights is currently being developed by Westside Investment Partners. DHA is currently not a part of this effort, but I believe they have been actively engaging with the community about what the campus could become.
